Le Pre Catalan Site.

Le Pre catalan is a 4* site just 15 minutes from Perpignan at the beautiful resort of Barcares.  It is a relatively small site with about 250 units and it is fastidiously managed by Francois Galidie and his English born wife, Jenny, my sister-in-law.  It is a very clean, well maintained site which has a relaxed, family atmosphere.

As you would expect of a 4* site in France, the faciltiies ar superb.  It is just 10 minutes walk from an eight kilometre long sandy beach. The photograph on the right shows the pool prior to September 2008, when a major scheme began to create a new and much larger water complex with a number of new water features.  The design of the new complex takes in to account the needs of younger children and work will be completed for the opening of the site for the 2009 season in May.  There is a restaurant on the site with regular themed nights, a snack bar with take-away service and a shop (with fresh bread and pastries each morning).  Internet and sport wi-fi access are both available.  There is also a laundry and a small library with English books (and French or Dutch if you wish to practice your language skills!)

Froggy's bar and a full programme of live entertainment and a disco each night for youngsters in July and August means that there is plenty to do and see on the site each evening.

There is a full and varied Activities Programme.  THe Children's Kingdom offers fun and learning for children from the age of 5 upwards, with daily workshops organised by the trained and enthusiastic team.  Children will be able to meet up with other children, develop new skills and every week in July and August a show is organised which is prepared and presented by the children.

There is a full sporting activities programme, which includes tennis, table-tennis, football, basket-ball, volley-ball and petanque.  In July and August scuba-diving and training and aqua gym lessons are provided.
